When I read this document and listened to the video, I wondered how much of what we currently do in education that we should keep. Should we pick out a few successful practices and scratch the rest or just start over? Teachers definitely need to collaborate for the benefit of each student, but that takes time, and time cost money. Most teachers are already working many many of their afterschool hours. It would be nice if we used the research and made best practices the standard.As far as the students go, they are already ready. It's the school system, and some staff who are holding them back. Students will become engaged in whatever is relavent and exciting to them. Project based instruction would help integrate the content areas as well as be an opportunity for the use of these technologies.

How right that the students are already there. Hopefully a few more teachers start to try new things, one at a time (baby steps), and begin to feel more comfortable integrating these emerging technologies in the classroom as they find a good fit for them in the curriculum. It's a learning process and there will always be new things. Teacher time is limited but, thankfully, there are many, many resources out there if one just knows where to look.
